FAQS

How do self-tanning products work?

Most self-tanning ingredients are either canola oil, glycerin or sugar-based ingredients that combine with the amino acids on your skin. Various amino acids combine differently, producing different tones of colouration from yellow to orange to brown. So very simply, the self-tanning ingredients make a tan coloured pigment on the skin that looks like a real tan, but is not a genuine tan which happens when our skin is exposed to UV. Because the colour is made by using the outer layers of skin, the colour will gradually disappear over a period of time as the skin sloughs off. So to keep the colour, it should be re-applied every now and then.

What ingredients does MooGoo avoid when making their moisturisers?

There's lots of things you won't find in this cream (or any of our other products) because they were all formulated for family members and close friends. This includes Paraffin and Mineral Oil which derive from petroleum, but are commonly found in commercial moisturisers like Sorbolene. MooGoo don’t think putting the stuff that goes into our cars on our skin is the healthiest thing to do.

MooGoo also don’t use any synthetic preservatives such as Parabens and Phenoxyethanol, although they're pretty commonly found, including with a few brands that claim to be natural. MooGoo avoid a lot of other things too, including any useless, trendy ingredients like stem cells from Swiss apples or super power jellyfish DNA. You can trust this product just contains natural, effective ingredients for healthy skin, as body care products should.

Is this moisturiser made of milk?

The MooGoo brand was not created because their products are based on milk. Fresh milk in a cream would go off and be smelly. Yuck! MooGoo do use Milk Protein in a few of their skin and hair care products, and it’s sourced ethically and sustainably from happy and healthy cows raised on a beautiful farm in New Zealand.

I’m Lactose intolerant. Are MooGoo products safe for me to use?

Almost all MooGoo products do not contain milk. MooGoo do add Milk Protein to some of their moisturising creams as it happens to be very good for maintaining skin elasticity and for protecting the hair shaft in our Hair Care products. The protein is not related to Lactose.

If you have an allergy to Milk Protein (rather than Lactose) you may want to choose creams without Milk Protein. They include the Eczema & Psoriasis Cream, Soothing MSM Moisturiser and Scalp Cream.
